Benefits of Clean Air
What can an air purifier do for you?
You've probably heard the saying about the importance of getting “fresh, clean air.” Well, it's a saying for a reason…it's true!
What is the science on air purifiers?
There are many studies on air purifiers (see below), which demonstrate their ability to filter out particles from the air. In general, if you're going to buy an air purifier, a HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) filter is what most experts recommend, as it can capture even the smallest particles.
What is HEPA?
HEPA filters are mechanical filters made of synthetic fibers and glass that trap particles by forcing air through a fine mesh. HEPA filters can remove up to 99.99% of airborne particles, including dust, pollen, mold, bacteria, and pet dander. They can filter out particles as small as 0.3 microns in diameter.
What is the link to inflammation?
Filtering out these particles can reduce irritation in your airways and lungs from allergens, which can potentially reduce inflammation in your body. Although more studies are needed to confirm this connection, it certainly makes sense to me that less irritation in your airways means less inflammation overall in your body.
